The Legend of the Light Keeper
The Light Keeper Series #1
By- Kelly Hall
Genre- YA Paranormal
After a hurricane destroys her home, Lily Jordan is ready for life to get back to normal. That would be easy if her mother’s recent engagement hadn’t landed her in a house along Southeast Texas’ most haunted ghost road. The secluded scenic road is steeped in rich history and legends, but when Lily is given an old diary on her birthday, will she find that those legends hold more for her future than she’s bargained for?
With the help of new friends, Hunter and Owen, and forbidden love, Talon, will she uncover dark secrets from the past and find the key to her own gifts? Is it fate or circumstance that brought Lily to her new home? Normal gives way to the paranormal in book one of the Light Keeper series where mystery and suspense keeps you guessing until the very last page.
The Secret of Strange Waters
The Light Keeper Series # 2
By- Kelly Hall
Unfortunately for Lily Jordan, being a Light Keeper doesn't come with an instruction manual, but neither does being sixteen. While learning to use her powers, she’s confronted with unforeseen obstacles and forced to break her own rules in order to save her circle of friends.
With her mom’s wedding on the horizon, will misinterpreted visions create new enemies who could threaten Lily’s exposure? Will death and heartache ruin the big day? For Lily, the answers only lead to impossible decisions. Does she embrace her powers or abandon them for false normalcy?
Kelly Hall’s second book, The Secret of Strange Waters, proves paranormal powers aren’t always a blessing.
Please tell us about yourself using 3 adjectives, 1 quirk and a pop culture addiction
Empathetic, creative, introverted. I don’t like crowds because the mixed energy drains me. My pop culture addiction would definitely be The Mortal Instruments. I’m super-excited for the TV series coming in 2016 called Shadowhunters. I’ve been obsessing lately.
Who do you consider the most swoon-worthy man/woman in the literary world? How about on tv/in the movies?
In the literary world, there are just too many. This is not even a fair question. (LOL) Because Jace Lightwood would be the obvious answer for me, I’m going to say, Shane Collins from The Morganville Vampire series, just because he’s so adorable. On TV, that again is just so hard. I’ve never been one to choose a favorite when it comes to fiction, because my theory on that is...it’s fiction, why choose, why not have them all? I’d say Damon Salvatore, but that’s so obvious. I’m actually leaning more toward Klaus. Klaus is so naughty, how can you not swoon. I love bad boys.
See what I did there, I got two choices out of each category. I’m a tad greedy when it comes to book boyfriends.
What are your thoughts on book covers- in your opinion do they make or break a book?
I’m not sure if they make or break it. I think it has a big impact on the success of a book when it comes to people who only look at covers. I’m a title person myself, and if a title sounds good, and the cover seems interesting, I turn the book over and read that blurb on the back. I’m not a quick book picker though. If I’m going to take time to read a whole book, I feel the least I can do is take time to read the blurb. But I think it’s the title that really pulls me in more often than a cover. I think, clever title, clever writing. But yes, really cool covers are awesome. I think knowing that most authors have little control over that, takes something out of it for me when it comes to choosing.
What’s the last song you listened to?
It was actually a song that popped up on my Facebook feed, Pink singing Me and Bobby McGee. She’s an amazing singer.
Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?
Write. Write for yourself and not to please others. Don’t worry about limitations or what sells, just tell your story. Use beta readers and proofreaders. If you are going to invest, invest in an editor. When it comes to publishing, really search out your options. There are so many. Don’t give up! Join a few groups and ask questions and then also find a way to participate and give back.
