Anna-Belle, the Princess of Fae’s life was put into danger
by the Empress' right hand man so she escaped the hold the guards and the
palace had on her to save her life. That was when she came across Landon, who
helped her escape and taught her a few things. She also met Keira, the shadow that
Landon couldn’t get rid of, who had an instant dislike in Anna-Belle but tagged
along when they fell off a cliff into the Elven Kingdom.
In the
Elven Kingdom, Anna-Belle met Aranhil, the prince of elves and also her love
interest in the story. It was there that she and her friends learned about a
prophecy that Anna-Belle is the Chosen One and the only one who could find the
Enchantress, who is needed to stop the darkness that is threatening her world.
The only way to find the Enchantress was to travel towards the darkness to find
an enchanted rose that can grant any wish that is pure of heart.
On this
journey, Anna-Belle learns to harness her powers, finds an unlikely friendship
and starts to fall in love. But it is also on this journey that the darkness
threatens to unfold everything they have worked for. Anna-Belle gains strength,
courage and friends, but loses a lot more when she finds The Rose of Cavendish.

The dreams came and they were not pleasant at all. It was
our world, consumed by
darkness. Everywhere I looked the fae were fighting. Fires
consumed everything, the trees where
the Napaeas called home, the mountains the dwarves
inhabited, the castle the Elves lived where
empty and trashed. The sun, which use to be so radiant and
bright, was dark and cold. Our realm
has turned into a permanent night full of darkness and evil.
This is not the world I knew. Where
did everyone go? What happened? I walked for a while,
stepping around the rubble tossed on the
ground when I saw Aranhil having a fist fight with a Napaea.
“Aranhil! What are you doing? This is not who you are? What
has gotten into you?” I
moved closer and touched his arm. He immediately turned
around and I could see his beautiful
face has turned into a permanent snarl of anger and hate and
his gorgeous eyes were no more.
They have been replaced by the dark red eyes I saw on
Gadrin. This cannot be happening!
Backing away I saw him following me. Pulling his sword out
and walking with it at his side. He
raised it up, ready to attack.
“Aranhil please! Don’t do this!” Begging seemed to be the
only option, but it didn’t help.
I backed against someone and as I turned to see who it was,
my arms were caught by someone
else’s hands and I was spun around. Landon was on my one
side while Keira was on the other
holding me in place so that I couldn’t move. I knew that
little bitch didn’t like me but this is way
too surreal even for her.
“Guys, please. Let me go! What’s going on here? HELP!
Somebody please help me!” I
yelled but no one seem to hear or if they did, they
obviously didn’t care. Aranhil moved closer,
sword ready.
“It’s because of you that this has happened.” Aranhil said
as he stopped a few feet away.
“Me? Why me?”
“You didn’t have the courage or the power to do what you
were supposed to do and now the
darkness has taken over. It’s all your fault and now you
must pay.” his eyes started to glow like
the gems on an evil statue. I tried to break free but Landon
and Keira’s grip was too strong. The
closer Aranhil came the more I struggled and screamed. No
one cared and I was sure to die at the
hand of the man who claimed to love me. What is this world
coming to?
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in
creating your books?
That writing a book is ten times harder than I would have
believed. Thought it much easier when I wanted to start. What also surprised me
was the ideas that just came to me when I least expected it.
Which of your characters are you most like? Least like?
When I was younger I could have seen myself as Anna-Belle.
Being unsure of yourself and what you can achieve in a world you don’t really
know. But with great friends who help you, you can always be sure that they
will believe in you no matter what.
Least like? I would say Keira. I have never seen myself as
this bitchy, self absorbed, jealous girl that would aggravate everyone around
her to just to make sure they don’t do this I disapprove of.
Do you have a particular writing habit??
I would start off planning the storyline, you know how it
will follow and flow. Then I would create the characters while contemplating
their roles in the story. When I’m done with that, I would begin writing,
knowing more or less how it should go, but still just go where the story takes
me. I usually get ideas for scenes or sayings or happenings while I’m writing,
so I write them down before I forget and add them when I get to that part of
the story. Sometimes this causes the storyline to change a bit, but I can role
with that. When each chapter is done I review it and fix the mistakes. I do
this with the whole story when it’s done too. And send it to someone I trust to
tell me where other faults are.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a
mentor?
I would choose someone that’s been in the business a while
and has had success in the genre I write. Someone like JK Rowling, Stephenie
Meyer or Richelle Mead. They can give pointers on what to do and where to go
with what you have. They can even help with inspiration.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Two local others yes. And by local I mean South African.
Adrienne Woods and Carlyle Labuschagne. Both are Indie authors. As well as Mary
Ting and Gillian Joy. There are more, but I’m waiting in anticipation for their
next books before I make up my mind about them.
What is the hardest part of your writing?
I would say the hardest part is getting time to write, and
keeping the story flowing. Writer’s Block is a terrible thing especially when
you have time to write and really feel like it.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Never give up and never stop.
Describe yourself in three words.
Real, Unique, Myself
I know characters are like children but if you could chose,
who’s your favorite from your books?
Anna-Belle, the main character. But it is soon to change
with the second installment.
Any song or songs that could basically sum up the overall
mood of your writing?
I won’t say that my writing has a theme song, but if I had
to choose a song, it would probably be We’re Gonna Win by Bryan Adams. Use to
be our sport song to pump us up and give us energy.
Do you plot out your books or just freely write them and let
the characters tell you what to do next?
I plot out the basics of how it should go, but when I write,
I write freely, letting the story consume me and take me where it needs to go.
I try and keep it on track, but it sometimes derails on me and I have to change
my planning.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider the
biggest influence in your writing?
That’s a tough one. I think every author whose work I’ve
read has an influence on my writing. Each story you read forms a part of you
and you live their lives as if it was your own. You get a sense of different
characters and the challenges they face. You also get to see and understand the
way each author describes a feeling or sensation, and it makes you think ‘I
never thought about it that way’. Which broadens your own perspective on life.
So every Read and to-be-Read author and book our there influences me.
What are your current projects? Can you share a little of
your current work with us?
I am working on a few actually. The rest of the Cavendish
series, which are the follow up books of The Rose of Cavendish. I have a Rising
Flame series consisting of 3 books, Soul Sisters Saga which are about 4/5
books, Starlight Series, Uniquely Perfect Series about 5 books and a few single
titles. So many books to come, but I don’t want to give away too much
information and them just yet. Might jinx them. hehe

Born and raised in South Africa, Lea lived a
fantasy life. She studied interior design after school but dreamt that there
was more that she could do. After being given an idea and challenged to write,
she set off writing her first novel. She continues to write when she has a
chance and when she’s not writing or playing wife and mother, she enjoys
painting and drawing and dreams up more stories to write. Her first novel is
The Rose of Cavendish, book 1 in the Cavendish series, but assures that there
are many more to come.
